About the Role

The State of Queensland is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nursing Director to lead the development and implementation of a contemporary Nursing and Midwifery Education and Research Framework for the Townsville Hospital and Health Service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership and management in the development and implementation of education and research strategies that support the delivery of contemporary healthcare and enhance organisational capability.
  • Collaborate with nursing/midwifery leadership teams and other key stakeholders to achieve strategic leadership, innovation, sustainability and excellence through education and research for the nursing and midwifery workforce.
  • Operate as a key member of the executive team, providing expert advice and guidance on nursing and midwifery matters.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures and guidelines to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to staff to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care and services.

Requirements:

  • Advanced experience in leading the design, implementation and evaluation of education and research strategies that support the delivery of contemporary healthcare and enhance organisational capability.
  • Strong commitment to making service performance improvements and a determination to achieve positive service outcomes for users.
  • Analytical, financial, and material resource management skills and the ability to identify and initiate corrective actions to maximise budget integrity.
  • Ability to build and sustain relationships within the organisation, across the service and with a diverse range of external stakeholders to deliver best health outcomes.

Desirable:

  • Possession of a relevant postgraduate qualification in an appropriate field.
