About the Psychiatric Nurse Role
The Psychiatric Nurse plays a vital part in delivering compassionate, recovery-orientated care to individuals experiencing mental health challenges.
- Administer medication and provide nursing interventions including risk assessment, therapeutic engagement and discharge planning.
- Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality care to patients with mental health conditions.
Key Requirements
- Current registration as a Psychiatric Nurse with the relevant professional body.
- A minimum of 2 years' experience in a mental health clinical setting, including 12 months in a similar role.
- Demonstrated understanding of working with mental health consumers, including appropriate supports, therapeutic engagement, assessment and evidence-based interventions.
- Sound knowledge of mental health legislation and policies.
- Well-developed verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work a flexible roster.
