Job Title: Mortuary Assistant

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Mortuary Assistant to join our team. The successful applicant will be responsible for performing various tasks related to the mortuary, including triage and prioritization of tasks, participation in a cooperative team, and maintenance of the day-to-day running of the SCUH mortuary.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with the performance of adult, pediatric & neonatal hospital autopsies, including evisceration, reconstruction, and cleaning of deceased individuals of all ages and in various stages of decomposition, infection, mutilation & incineration.
  • Participate in the receipt and authorized release of bodies/coronial cases, body/limb checks and registration, viewings and identifications, and liaison with administrative and medical staff regarding hospital autopsies and general maintenance, restocking and cleaning duties.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure that all procedures are followed in accordance with established protocols and regulations.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Previous relevant mortuary (autopsy/dissection) experience is highly regarded.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders and contribute positively to team outcomes.
  • Able to maintain a safe, secure and clean mortuary environment, and an understanding of and willingness to contribute to relevant systems, processes and procedures.
