Police Communication Operator Job

We are seeking skilled and dedicated individuals to join our team as Police Communication Operators. This is a challenging yet rewarding role that requires strong communication, negotiation, and conflict management skills.

Job Description:

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing calls for service in emergency, stressful, and challenging situations using negotiation and conflict management skills to de-escalate, calm callers, and gather vital information.

They will also apply the Queensland Police Service demand management framework (SOLVE) to request police resources for incident response, relay data accurately using voice communications equipment in a time-critical environment to assist responding police units.

The ideal candidate will have excellent research skills, being able to quickly find relevant information on police data management systems, and possess strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage calls for service in emergency, stressful, and challenging situations
  • Apply SOLVE framework to request police resources for incident response
  • Relay data accurately using voice communications equipment
  • Research police data management systems
  • Review incidents, assess tasks, and update incidents with relevant information
  • Liaise with other service providers
  • Adhere to information security policies
  • Interpret and relay information related to legislation, policies, and procedures

Requirements:

  • Fixed-term 6-month training program
  • Participate in a 24-hour, 7-day roster
  • Undergo alcohol and/or drug testing
  • Provide keyboard skills certificate
  • Complete assessments including typing, call-taking simulation, and cognitive ability tests
  • Undergo psychological assessment
