Job Overview

As a specialist in workplace health and safety, you will be responsible for overseeing the WHS management system to ensure best practice prevention, safety outcomes, and legislative compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research and identify WHS legislative requirements, emerging issues, and best practices to assess opportunities for improvement in systems and processes.
  • Act as a sounding board and key partner for leaders in engaging with and driving cultural change through the business.
  • Design and deliver effective communication strategies to engage and influence the business in driving work health and safety continuous improvement strategies.
  • Provide analysis, reporting, and insights to support effective decision making and compliance outcomes.
  • Support business partners with WHS investigations and maintain oversight of injury and incident reporting ensuring accuracy.
  • Manage special projects as directed by the manager.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualification in occupational health and safety or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in workplace health and safety with aviation, resource, or energy sectors.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience implementing systems and risk management programs within industry.
  • High levels of experience analysing and reporting to multiple stakeholders on safety performance metrics and trends.
  • Knowledge of state WHS legislative requirements.
  • Proficient in MS Office suite of programmes and advanced user of Intelex and Power BI.
