Improving health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people is a key focus of this midwife role.
Midwife RoleThis position provides comprehensive antenatal and postnatal care to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander women in the Goldfields region, working closely with other maternity providers to ensure timely and culturally appropriate care.
Culturally appropriate specialist child health services are provided to ATSI children and their families through scheduled child health screening, enhanced child health screening, and childhood immunisation programs.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide high-quality antenatal and postnatal care to ATSI women.
- Collaborate with other maternity providers to ensure seamless care.
- Conduct scheduled child health screenings and implement child immunisation programs.
- Bachelor of Nursing and/or Midwifery qualifications.
- High level oral and written communication skills.
- Understanding of Primary Health Care principles and issues affecting ATSI women and families.
- Commitment to confidentiality and accuracy.
- Experience providing community based antenatal and postnatal care.
- Current Immunisation provider certificate.
- Valid Working with Children Check (WA).
