The Payroll Supervisor role is a senior position within an organisation's finance team.

It requires a high level of expertise and experience in payroll management, including the oversight of payroll functions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant legislation.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Reconciling payroll related payments, including Awards, EBA's, Employment Contracts, organisational policies, and other relevant legislation.
  • Supervising and assisting in reconciling payroll tax, PAYG, superannuation, child support, share plan, and other payroll deductions.
  • Overseeing quarterly, annual, and ad-hoc payments.
  • Designing and implementing enhancements to the organisation's payroll system and procedures.
  • Supervising payroll officers and administrators, including training and development, and performance reviews.
  • Undertaking tasks with internal and external auditors.
  • Ensuring accurate preparation of month-end and end-of-year activities.
  • Resolving queries and escalations relating to payroll from stakeholders across the business.

Key qualifications for this role include:

  • A tertiary qualification in a field such as accounting or finance.
  • At least 4-6 years of relevant experience in payroll management, preferably in the mining and resources industry.
  • Knowledge of legislative requirements in respect of PAYG, FBT, payroll tax, and EEO principles.
  • A sound understanding of Industrial Award/Enterprise Agreements, organisation's payroll system, and salary grades.
  • Strong leadership ability, excellent communication, and well-developed interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated high level of analytical and problem-solving skills.
