Job Overview

The Leading Hand position is a critical role that involves supervising subcontractor activity and ensuring all tasks are completed in accordance with safe systems of work. This includes performing manual excavation, earth levelling, and concrete mixing.

This full-time, permanent position requires the ideal candidate to have at least 2 years of experience as a leading hand, preferably on similar projects, and hold relevant certifications such as Certificate III in Civil Construction and a current Driver's Licence.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supervise subcontractor activity to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and safely.
  • Verify that all tasks are completed in line with safe systems of work.
  • Perform manual excavation and level earth and road pavements to specified grades and tolerances.
  • Mixes concrete and place, level, and finish freshly poured concrete.
  • Complete quality check forms to ensure high-quality work.
  • Inspect and verify material deliveries to site.
  • Use handheld tools such as shovels, rakes, crowbars, brooms, cold chisels, etc.
