Overview

Digital Development Manager Role

The Digital Development Manager is accountable for driving the success of engineering teams within the digital platform. This role involves leading, mentoring, and growing a team of engineers supporting various applications across the domain, managing and optimizing the development process, ensuring efficiency, and maintaining high-quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of software developers, championing best practice and consistent development outcomes addressing quality, testing, security, and documentation.
  2. Technology Strategy: Identify new ways of working to improve technology delivery and development services, leading the ongoing development of existing applications and the design and delivery of new applications.
  3. Performance Optimization: Regularly assess system performance, conduct diagnostics, and implement optimizations to ensure efficient operation and response times.
  4. Architecture Collaboration: Work with the architecture team on solutioning and long-term engineering strategy, designing for scalability, reliability, and performance.
  5. Quality Standards: Set standards for code quality, security, and platform stability, contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.
  6. Stakeholder Alignment: Work with stakeholders to align technical execution with business goals and client needs.
  7. Collaboration: Collaborate with product, design, and data teams to drive the development of new features for the core insurance platform.
  8. Incident Response: Support and guide the team in incident response and troubleshooting, focusing on robust monitoring and logging.

This role offers flexibility to be based in either Brisbane or Sydney, with a hybrid work model.

Requirements:

  • Leadership Skills: Excellent leadership and team management skills, strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Communication: Proven ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Commercial Acumen: Commercial acumen and understanding of how technical decisions impact business performance.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in modern development workflows, DevOps, and CI/CD practices.
  • Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical skills, with a focus on data-driven decision making.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Proven track record working cross-functionally to align technical execution with business outcomes.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Salesforce Commerce Cloud: Salesforce Commerce Cloud and retail experience.
  • Web Performance Optimization: Strong understanding of web performance optimization techniques, SEO fundamentals, and headless architecture.
  • Development Experience: Familiarity with React, APIs, and headless commerce.
