THE ROLE

A great opportunity for a Senior Backfill Engineer to join our team This is a full time position based in our Varsity Lakes Office and offers a chance to expand your expertise and contribute to impactful projects while receiving ongoing support from our experienced team.

Duties include but not limited to;

• Function as the technical lead for backfill studies from Desktop to Feasibility level.
• Provide on-site consulting and technical support for ongoing operations and project development
• Assist in backfill system process designs including mass balance, control philosophy and functional specification.
• Design compliant backfill distribution systems with relevant AS & ASME design codes.
• Develop operational readiness systems for backfill implementation.
• Engage with clients to address project-specific backfill constraints.
• Provide on-site backfill engineering support, including paste engineering.
• Assist with backfill plant and underground system commissioning.
• Develop laboratory test work programs and compile reports.
• Contribute to the development of junior engineers and training systems.
• Timesheets, proposals, and project tracking and management via Procore.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Backfill Manager.

THE PERSON

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Geotechnical, or Mining Engineering.
• Ability to work towards CPEng status.
• EPC/EPCM mining sector experience preferred but not essential.
• Strong site-based experience with Pastefill or Cemented Hydraulic Fill.
• Clear understanding of backfills role in underground mining.
• Functional knowledge of soil and fluid mechanics.
• Basic proficiency in Deswik (or similar) preferred.
• Strong communication, time management, and project coordination skills.
• Willingness to travel to site.
