Electricity Transmission and Distribution Design Specialist

Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Civil Engineer with a passion for civil engineering and the energy sector to join our growing electricity transmission and distribution design team.

The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in various civil engineering disciplines, including masonry buildings, steel portal frames, reinforced concrete, and more. They will lead the design of electricity substations across the UK from concept to completion, collaborating closely with internal teams and clients to ensure all requirements are met.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and review engineering drawings, calculations, specifications, and reports for multiple projects.
  • Work with clients and internal teams to deliver effective project outcomes, providing updates and identifying potential issues.
  • Attend progress meetings at client or contractor offices or construction sites as needed.
  • Manage design risks to provide buildable solutions.
  • Offer engineering solutions to site-based problems through TQ/RFI processes.
  • Mentor junior team members and provide technical guidance to promote professional development.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience working in design environments for traditional masonry buildings, steel portal frames, and reinforced concrete.
  • Experience in client-facing roles with strong relationship management skills.
  • Ability to lead multiple simultaneous technical projects in challenging environments.
  • Strong communication skills for engaging in technical discussions with colleagues, non-technical staff, and clients.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and continuous learning.

Desirable Attributes:

  • Experience working within the electricity distribution sector, particularly in substation design and electrical infrastructure.
  • Practical experience with AutoCAD, Revit, and Civils3D for civil engineering design.
  • Full UK driving license.
