About the Role

The Randstad organisation is seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to join their team on a 3-month contract. Based in Melbourne's CBD, this role offers a hybrid work arrangement with up to 2 days of work-from-home flexibility.

This position comes with a competitive salary package, including up to $59 per hour plus superannuation benefits.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Manage end-to-end payroll processing for a large workforce, ensuring timely and accurate payments.
  2. Process overtime, allowances, and shift penalties according to organisational guidelines.
  3. Coordinate termination payments, leave entitlements, and other related tasks.
  4. Handle salary sacrificing and deductions efficiently.
  5. Prepare and submit PAYG and superannuation payments as required.
  6. Process Workers Compensation claims and maintain accurate records.
  7. Interpret complex awards and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
  8. Reconcile payroll accounts and general ledger statements.
  9. Generate payroll reports and tax documentation for internal use.
  10. Manage garnishee orders and salary packaging arrangements.
  11. Assist with back pay calculations and other ad-hoc tasks.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Prior government or public sector payroll experience is highly desirable.
  • Award interpretation expertise is essential for this role.
  • Excellent attention to detail and communication skills are necessary for success.
