We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Construction Manager to lead our site operations in Cairns.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the effective day-to-day management of on-site construction activities to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and to the required quality standards.

  • The ideal candidate will have strong leadership and team management skills, excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, and the ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.

  • They will also need to possess sound knowledge of WHS regulations and safe work practices, as well as strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions under pressure.

  • A minimum Certificate III in Carpentry or similar is required, along with a White Card and proven experience as a Site Supervisor or in a similar construction management role.

  • Knowledge of building codes, standards, and relevant legislation, as well as proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite, would be highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Managing site establishment and demobilisation

  • Implementing site safety systems (IMS) and ensuring a safe working environment for all

  • Communicating with construction manager and project manager

  • Assigning tasks to tradespeople on site

  • Supervising apprentices

  • Ensuring effective use of materials and equipment on site

  • Inducting staff and subcontractors to site

  • Reading project plans, specifications, and understanding relevant building standards to ensure building compliance

  • Monitoring attendance of direct staff and subcontractors on site

  • Monitoring subcontractors' scope of works and fulfilment of contract

  • Communicating with staff on site and office staff

  • Identifying and resolving problems throughout the construction process
