About the Role

This is a senior leadership opportunity to provide strategic advice and drive transformational change within the education sector.

The Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority (VRQA) plays a pivotal role in ensuring that schools and training providers meet quality standards, governed by an independent board that reports to various ministers.

As a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, the Deputy Chief Executive Officer (DCEO) Schools provides high-level guidance on regulatory matters to the CEO, VRQA Board, and its committees.

This leadership role involves significant responsibilities including:

  • oversight of registrations and accreditation processes
  • leading complex regulatory reform initiatives and investigations
  • cultivating strong relationships across government, peak bodies, schools, and other stakeholders
  • exemplary leadership of a team of professionals
  • driving a culture of excellence and values-based leadership

This 5-year appointment offers hybrid work arrangements, challenging work, and opportunities for growth in a dynamic environment.

About You:

  • demonstrated achievement at executive level in regulation or similar government contexts, with experience working with boards or governance structures
  • extensive experience developing and managing strategic policy, policy analysis, and development, as well as leading projects
  • deep understanding of contemporary regulatory frameworks and legislation
  • strong influencing, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
