Job Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Insurance Defences Specialist to join our General Insurance practice in Melbourne.

This role involves defending claims against professionals, including those in the construction industry, financial services, and legal sector, as well as defending claims in the health and medical sector (medical malpractice).

You will be responsible for managing your own files with appropriate supervision from our experienced partners.

  • Client interaction and strategy;
  • Collaboration with a team of lawyers;
  • Reviewing documents and preparing evidence;
  • Drafting correspondence to the court and third parties;
  • Conferencing with witnesses and preparing witness statements;
  • Preparing briefs for counsel;
  • Drafting court documents and attending court hearings;
  • Drafting client advice notes; and
  • Drafting letters of instruction to experts.
Requirements
  • A minimum of five years' post-qualification experience in general insurance law;
  • Experience in professional indemnity matters;
  • Experience in file management and running matters through court proceedings;
  • A strong interest in defendant insurance law;
  • Excellent technical, analytical, and drafting skills;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Ability to prioritise tasks effectively;
