
Urban Waterway Strategist

Our organisation is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead our waterway management initiatives. As a Waterways Lead, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to improve the health and sustainability of urban waterways.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading collaborative efforts with councils, catchment groups, and government agencies to develop and deliver catchment-wide strategies for managing urban waterways;
- Providing specialist advice and direction to councils and other partners on opening new swim sites under our Urban Plunge service offering;
- Designing and delivering innovative water-related land use planning and urban design projects that support waterway outcomes;
- Influencing policy and planning landscapes to meet agreed waterway health objectives and address customer and community expectations for healthy waterways;
Essential Criteria:
- Recognised leader and influencer in industry issues related to integrated water management, urban waterway health, or water-sensitive city concepts, with relevant research and best practice experience;
- Ability to provide intelligent and innovative guidance regarding current policy, regulation, and standards for urban waterway management and urban water servicing;
- Knowledge of both practical and economic components of natural resource management, stakeholder engagement, and strategic planning, as well as understanding of relevant research and best practice standards;
- Pro-active approach to influencing decision-making processes, with highly developed interpersonal skills, together with high-level verbal and written communication skills in sensitive or complex circumstances;
- Demonstrated experience in preparing strategies, plans, submissions, and reports relevant to waterways management;
