Job Overview

The City of Yarra is seeking a visionary Chief Urban Development Strategist to lead the development and implementation of strategies that drive positive social, environmental, economic, and amenity outcomes.

This role will be instrumental in shaping the city's future through the creation of innovative and collaborative organisational structures that foster innovation, connection, and community engagement.

The ideal candidate will possess proven leadership and planning expertise, with a strong understanding of the economic, environmental, and social dynamics of an inner metro community. They will have a demonstrated ability to form credible and collaborative relationships with government departments, community groups, peers, and other key stakeholders.

A tertiary degree in Urban Design/Planning or a related discipline is essential, along with a sound understanding of urban development principles and practices.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Developing and implementing urban development strategies that align with the city's vision and goals;
  • Leading cross-functional teams to deliver projects and initiatives that drive positive outcomes;
  • Fostering partnerships with government agencies, community groups, and other stakeholders to leverage resources and expertise;
  • Providing expert advice on urban development matters to council members and senior staff.
