Job Overview

The Financial Control Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing core finance and accounting operations within the energy sector.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop a comprehensive financial control strategy aligned with regulatory requirements, risk management, and business objectives.
  • Establish and enforce robust financial control frameworks, policies, and processes tailored to energy sector operations.
  • Oversee the preparation and audit of financial statements in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards.
  • Lead the development of a culture of continuous learning and capability uplift within the finance team.
  • Foster collaboration across business units.
Compliance & Reporting
  • Ensure compliance with statutory reporting requirements and tax obligations.
  • Lead the development and implementation of financial reporting tools to meet corporate and regulatory needs.
  • Provide timely performance reporting for executives and stakeholders.
  • Evaluate financial performance against forecasts and budgets.
Stakeholder Engagement & Leadership
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders across Energy Markets, Risk, Legal, Governance, and Finance.
  • Liaise with regulators and market operators to ensure timely reporting and compliance.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing Financial Control team.
Qualifications & Experience

Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Accounting, or related discipline are essential. A Chartered Accountant (CA) or Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) qualification is required.

Proven leadership experience in finance roles within the energy, utilities, or infrastructure sectors is necessary.

Industry experience in retail energy, generation, transmission, or market operations is highly desirable.
