About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Safety Professional to join our team at Sulzer. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in ensuring the health and safety of our employees and the community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Champion Safety Accountability: Develop and implement a comprehensive safety program that promotes a culture of safety awareness and accountability among employees.
  • Safety Systems Implementation: Design and implement effective safety systems, including risk assessments, job safety analyses, and training programs, to mitigate workplace hazards.
  • Proactive Injury Prevention & Injury Management: Develop and implement proactive measures to prevent injuries and illnesses, including workplace inspections, hazard reporting, and incident investigation.
  • Incident Management: Lead the investigation and resolution of workplace incidents, ensuring that root causes are identified and corrective actions are implemented.
  • Employee Engagement: Foster a culture of safety awareness and engagement among employees, through regular communication, training, and feedback.
  • Business Relationship Building: Develop and maintain strong relationships with operational supervisors and managers to ensure that safety is integrated into all aspects of the business.
  • Consultation & Communication: Provide regular safety updates and information to employees, management, and other stakeholders, ensuring that everyone is informed and engaged.
  • Compliance: Ensure that all safety policies, procedures, and regulations are up-to-date and compliant with relevant laws and standards.
  • Audit Leadership: Plan, lead, and conduct internal and external safety audits to ensure that our safety management system is effective and compliant.
  • Management System & Certification: Develop, review, and implement policies, procedures, and processes to maintain our Management System and certifications.
  • Safety System Management: Promote and maintain the effective management of our safety systems, including the use of technology and data analysis to drive safety performance.
  • Performance Reporting: Provide regular safety performance reports to management and other stakeholders, highlighting areas of improvement and success.
Requirements
  • Education: Degree or Diploma in Safety (mandatory); Workplace Train the Trainer qualifications (highly desirable).
  • Certifications: RTW Accreditation (mandatory); First Aid/CPR Accreditation.
  • Experience: Minimum 7 years operational safety role in an industrial workshop or manufacturing environment; with project site experience also being highly desirable.
  • Skills: Leadership in cultural or organisational change initiatives, safety systems implementation, root cause analysis and working knowledge of WHS legislation / regulations / codes of practice.
  • Travel: Willingness and ability to travel interstate up to 50% of the time month on month.
