About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Safety Professional to join our team at Sulzer. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in ensuring the health and safety of our employees and the community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Champion Safety Accountability: Develop and implement a comprehensive safety program that promotes a culture of safety and accountability throughout the organization.
  • Safety Systems Implementation: Design and implement effective safety systems, including risk assessments, job safety analyses, and training programs, to mitigate hazards and prevent injuries.
  • Proactive Injury Prevention & Injury Management: Develop and implement proactive measures to prevent injuries and manage workplace incidents, including return-to-work programs and rehabilitation services.
  • Incident Management: Investigate and respond to workplace incidents, ensuring timely and effective corrective actions are taken to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Employee Engagement: Foster a culture of safety awareness and engagement among employees, promoting a shared responsibility for safety and well-being.
  • Business Relationship Building: Develop and maintain strong relationships with operational supervisors and managers to ensure safety is integrated into business operations and decision-making.
  • Consultation & Communication: Lead regular safety consultations and communication with employees, ensuring their voices are heard and concerns are addressed.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to all relevant statutory, legislative, and regulatory requirements, including WHS legislation and codes of practice.
  • Audit Leadership: Plan, lead, and conduct internal and external safety audits to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Management System & Certification: Develop, review, and implement policies, procedures, and processes to maintain the Management System and Certifications.
  • Safety System Management: Promote and maintain the agreed-upon processes that drive and support the ESH Management System.
  • Performance Reporting: Report safety Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to support safety and drive change as required.
Requirements
  • Education: Degree or Diploma in Safety (mandatory); Workplace Train the Trainer qualifications (highly desirable)
  • Certifications: RTW Accreditation (mandatory); First Aid/CPR Accreditation
  • Experience: Minimum 7 years operational safety role in an industrial workshop or manufacturing environment; with project site experience also being highly desirable.
  • Skills: Leadership in cultural or organizational change initiatives, safety systems implementation, root cause analysis, and working knowledge of WHS legislation / regulations / codes of practice.
  • Travel: Willingness and ability to travel interstate up to 50% of the time month on month.
