About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our multidisciplinary team at Anyinginyi Health Aboriginal Corporation. As an Aboriginal Health Specialist, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality healthcare services to the population of Tennant Creek and the surrounding Barkly communities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with our team to ensure the effective delivery of child and maternal health services to our clients.
  • Undertake universal and extended child health checks and developmental screening as required.
  • Assist in the development of care plans for children with chronic conditions in consultation with our multidisciplinary team.
  • Provide case management and care coordination for children with complex needs requiring multiple specialist service input.
  • Coordinate and implement the Childhood Immunisation Program in collaboration with local stakeholders.
  • Provide reports and support to Territory Families for children in care.
  • Coordinate the delivery of ear health screening and associated services, including staff education on child and maternal health.
  • Provide education and support to our team to improve staff knowledge, skills, and understanding of child health service delivery.
  • Coordinate and facilitate relevant specialist visits.
  • Utilize our electronic patient information management system to identify care needs and document patient consultations.
  • Provide education to clients and families on child health care in collaboration with our multidisciplinary team.
Requirements
  • Current Registered Nurse AHPRA registration.
  • Familiarity with the CARPA Standard Treatment Manual.
  • Demonstrated knowledge, interpersonal skills, and ability to sensitively communicate with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, values, and beliefs.
  • Ability to communicate sensitively and culturally appropriate.
  • Current certification to administer vaccines in the NT (or ability to obtain).
  • Post-graduate qualifications in Remote Area Nursing or Child Health Nursing preferred.
  • High level of communication, negotiation, and consultation skills.
  • Knowledge and experience monitoring health and safety standards.
  • Current NT drivers' license.
  • Meet Public Health Orders for health industry workers in NT.
  • Be fully COVID-19 vaccinated.
