Job Description: Senior Corporate Counsel - Regulatory Expertise

We seek an experienced and strategic Senior Corporate Counsel to lead our regulatory expertise function, providing expert guidance and support on complex legal matters across our diverse operations.

This role involves overseeing our organisation's legal framework, including governance, risk management, and strategic projects. You will be responsible for providing proactive, solutions-oriented legal advice to senior management and business units.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial law, experience in a regulated industry, and a demonstrated ability to navigate complex legal landscapes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of legal frameworks, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Oversee contract negotiations, including drafting, reviewing, and managing a wide range of commercial agreements.
  • Provide guidance and support on a wide variety of legal matters, including privacy, intellectual property, employment law, and corporate governance.
  • Manage legal risk by identifying potential issues and advising on risk mitigation strategies to protect the organisation's interests.
  • Act as a key advisor to senior leadership and the board on legal matters, supporting informed decision-making and strategic planning.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Law and admission to practice law in New South Wales.
  • 8+ years of experience in corporate, commercial, or regulatory law, with a proven track record in a senior legal position.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable laws and regulations, ideally with experience in a regulated industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to advise senior management and boards on complex legal issues and provide strategic guidance.
  • Leadership experience, including managing and developing a team of legal professionals and leading high-performing teams.

What We Offer:
