Helicopter Flight Instructor Role

This position is seeking experienced helicopter flight instructors to join our team in a training environment.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Conduct initial flight instruction on the EC-135 T2+ aircraft
  • Deliver ground-based instruction, briefings and lectures
  • Operate training equipment including live and synthetic devices
  • Maintain accurate trainee records
  • Brief the Pilot Training Officer on trainee progress
  • Mentor trainees
  • Evaluate trainee performance in ground-based events and assessments
  • Update aircraft records as required
  • Maintain aircrew qualifications and currency requirements according to relevant standing instructions
  • Undertake secondary missions in support of 723 SQN tasking when requested
  • Provide flying supervision to trainees
  • Review and recommend changes to training packages and courseware
  • Support JHS winching and load lifting training activities
Requirements
  • Holding a current Class 1 Medical Certificate and meeting its ongoing requirements
  • CASA Commercial Pilot Licence (Helicopter) - CPL(H) (minimum)
  • CASA Command Instrument Rating (Helicopter), or military equivalent qualification
  • Night Visual Flight Rules Rating, or military equivalent qualification
  • Night Vision Imaging System (NVIS) rating, or military equivalent qualification
  • Sling Load and Winching Operations Endorsement, or military equivalent qualification
  • Flying Instructor (Helicopter) Grade 2 rating, or military equivalent qualification
  • TAE40122 or current TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, or ability to obtain
  • Category C rotary wing Qualified Flying Instructor or greater qualification
  • Previous military flight instruction experience
  • A history of helicopter night vision device formation experience
  • At least 250 hours of night vision device flight operations
  • Prior experience holding a Deck Landing Qualification (DLQ)
  • Demonstrated clear and effective English written and verbal communication skills in a high-pressure environment
  • Current Competency Standard HLTAID003 - Provide first aid
  • Proven ability to work effectively within a team
  • Ability to successfully interact with colleagues and maintain productive working relationships to achieve team, business unit and organisational goals
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Workplace/Occupational Health and Safety procedures
  • Intermediate to advanced level of MS Office skills
Desirable Skills
  • Ab-initio flying experience
  • EC135 flying experience
  • Category B rotary wing Qualified Flying Instructor or greater qualification
  • Instructional experience using synthetic devices
  • Experience working in a safety management role
  • Experience operating in a contractor environment directly with customers
