Aircrew Training Capability Instructor

Job Description:

We are recruiting a Qualified Flying Instructor to join our team in the Aircrew Training Capability. This position will support the Helicopter Aircrew Training System (HATS) operating the EC135 T2+. The instructor is responsible for conducting ab-initio pilot helicopter flying instruction.

The primary responsibility of the instructor is to conduct flight and ground instruction, briefings, and lectures. Additionally, the instructor will operate training aircraft and equipment, update trainee records, brief the Pilot Training Officer on trainee progress, mentor trainees, review trainee progress in ground training events and assessments, update aircraft records, maintain aircrew qualifications and currency requirements, conduct secondary missions, perform primary SAR operations as part of Primary SAR Support, provide flying supervision to trainees, review and recommend changes to training packages and courseware, support JHS Winching and Load lifting Training evolutions, assist the HATS Training Manager as required, and comply with WHS-related JHS OIP to ensure a safe workplace.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

For this role, we are looking for an individual who holds a current CASA Class 1 Medical and ability to maintain its requirements, CASA Commercial Pilot Licence (Helicopter), CASA Command Instrument Rating (Helicopter), CASA Night Visual Flight Rules Rating, CASA Night Vision Imaging System rating, CASA Sling Load and Winching Operations Endorsement, CASA Flying Instructor (Helicopter) Grade 2 rating, ability to obtain TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, minimum Category C Qualified Flying Instructor, clear and effective English written and verbal communication skills, competency standard HLTAID003 - Provide first aid, demonstrate teamwork and co-worker interaction skills, working knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety procedures, intermediate to advanced level of MS Office skills, and obtain and maintain a baseline Defence security clearance.

Additionally, having military flying instruction experience, ab-initio flying experience, EC135 flying experience, Category B Qualified Flying Instructor, instructional experience in synthetic devices, experience in a safety management role, and experience working in a contractor environment would be desirable.
