Job Title: Veterinary Officer

This is a key role within our team, working to ensure the safe export of meat and meat products from Australia.

  • Undertake research and analysis to inform policy and program development, focusing on existing assurance functions and emerging issues.
  • Prepare, review and provide technical input to industry reports, policies, instructional material and stakeholder meeting papers to progress programs.
  • Engage and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including animal producers, processors and peak industry bodies, as well as other state/territory and commonwealth agencies and internal stakeholders.

The successful applicant will have:

  • Experience in project management and implementing changes to operational programs.
  • Experience in the delivery of operational programs.
  • Export policy, program, legislation or agricultural industry experience (desirable but not mandatory).

Mandatory qualifications include a veterinary degree from an Australian university or equivalent qualification recognised in Australia, registration with the relevant Australian state/territory veterinary board, and maintenance of this registration whilst employed.

Additional requirements include undergoing a pre-employment medical examination which will include Q-Fever tests and obtaining Q-Fever immunisation where immunity cannot be established.
