Job Description:
As a Senior Legal Officer, you will provide specialist legal advice and assistance to investigators and officers in relation to complex aspects of criminal investigations, police powers, the management and disruption of reportable offenders, and response to major incidents.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide specialist legal advice and assistance to investigators and officers in relation to complex aspects of criminal investigations, police powers, and management and disruption of reportable offenders.
  • Prepare and settle complex affidavits and applications, and appear on behalf of police officers and the Queensland Police Service in relation to more complex applications, principally for covert warrants.
  • Liaise with relevant internal units and external agencies, including the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions and other government and law enforcement agencies.
  • Supervise and mentor legal officers within the Crime and Intelligence Legal Services as required by the Manager, Crime and Intelligence Legal Services.

Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you must have:
  • Mandatory - Admission, or eligibility for immediate admission, as a barrister or solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland and enrolment or eligibility for enrolment, to practice in the Federal and High Courts of Australia.
  • Possession of a degree in law from a recognised tertiary institution, or equivalent qualifications.
