Beacon Legal have partnered with a leading Australian renewable energy business in their search for a new Legal Counsel. They are looking to hire someone at the 4-8 PQE level, to be based in their Brisbane, Melbourne or Sydney office.

We're seeking a proactive and motivated projects or energy lawyer to support a dynamic and growing legal team. This role offers the opportunity to work across a range of transactional and regulated legal matters in a company that is driving Australia's transition to net zero. The General Counsel is a leader in the space and is brilliant to work with.

About the Role

• Lead and support the negotiation, drafting and review of a wide range of commercial contracts such as EPC contracts, supply and install contracts, balance of plant contracts, PPAs/offtake agreements, connection agreements, and O&M agreements.
• Advise on land acquisitions, planning approvals, and general commercial matters including NDAs, consultancy agreements, services agreements, and disputes.
• Provide support and manage external counsel.
• Advise on regulatory matters such as FIRB, Australian Financial Services Licences and Critical Infrastructure.
• Contribute to strategic initiatives, including the development of precedent contracts, adoption of new processes, and delivering training to the team.

What type of person will be successful?

• Admitted as a lawyer in Australia.
• Practising as a projects or energy lawyer for 4-8 years in private practice or in-house.
• Strong understanding of energy or infrastructure transactions in Australia.
• Proven stakeholder management skills and the ability to influence outcomes.
• Collaborative, adaptable, and self-motivated.
• Strong problem-solving, commercial, and communication skills.
• Thrives in dynamic and evolving environments.
