Save the Children Australia is committed to supporting young people transitioning from detention. Our Staying on Track program provides wraparound support through youth and family workers, who work closely with local mentors and community leaders to foster reintegration and long-term wellbeing.

Our goal is to empower these young people to reach their full potential by providing them with structured guidance, cultural engagement, and access to essential services. This enables them to pursue education, employment, and personal growth opportunities.

About the Role
  • Develop and implement high-quality programs that meet the needs of our clients
  • Coach, train, and develop colleagues to increase skill and competency
  • Build and maintain operational relationships with stakeholders critical to program success
  • Coordinate staff caseloads and program logistics, monitoring, and evaluation, risk management, and child protection
  • Maintain a caseload of clients
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Demonstrated skills and experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people, particularly those in contact with the justice system
  • Proven experience in youth work/case management roles
  • Ability to mentor and coach colleagues
  • Understanding of complex intergenerational trauma
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Understanding of child protection concerns and commitment to responding safely and effectively
  • Sound time management and organisational skills, and ability to manage and plan own workload
