We are seeking a highly skilled Research Officer to join our Systems Immunology group at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research. As a key member of our team, you will contribute to cutting-edge research in genomics, data analysis, and interpretation, combining computational skills with biological domain expertise.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct original research under limited supervision, with a focus on genomics, data analysis, and interpretation.
- Contribute to team and Garvan research projects, including the development of computational methods and tools.
- Presentation of original research at national and international scientific conferences, and as invited to seminars locally and/or nationally.
- Co-supervision and mentoring of students and junior research staff.
- PhD degree in a related area of science or engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Good statistical knowledge and programming skills, with experience in Unix and HPC environments.
- Good knowledge of biology, with immunology background a plus.
- Previous experience analyzing and interpreting genomics data, including targeted or whole-genome sequencing, RNA-seq, and DNA methylation.
- Publications commensurate with experience.
- Highly developed written and verbal communications skills.
