About the Role

Are you a highly skilled and motivated Research Assistant looking for a new challenge? We are seeking an experienced Research Assistant to join our team at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research in Sydney. As a Research Assistant, you will play a key role in conducting experiments within your research platform, working collaboratively with researchers across laboratories.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and manage own experiments and report findings back to supervisor
  • Regularly attend extra seminar meetings and conferences
  • Contribute towards research projects through joint authorship of abstracts and publications in journals specific to field
  • Develop research-related material with guidance from senior staff, and assist in designing and operating laboratory equipment or conducting advanced research procedures
  • Manage lab administration efficiently, including resource and equipment issues

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Science or Medicine (with Honours)
  • Competent computer skills (Excel, Word & PowerPoint)
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Specific technical expertise relating to position or field of study
  • Competent report writing and presentation skills

The ideal candidate will have at least 4 years' experience in a lab setting and be able to demonstrate their ability to work independently and as part of a team.
