Ensuring the Wellbeing of Victim-Survivors
Safe Steps is a family violence response centre offering statewide support to victim-survivors of domestic and family violence. Our services comprise information and referral, crisis response, safety planning, webchat, and access to supported crisis accommodation.
We aim to provide safety, support, and respect for all victim-survivors of domestic and family violence.
In collaboration with 1800RESPECT Australia, we are delivering a national counselling, information, and support service for individuals affected by domestic, family, and sexual violence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide ongoing coaching and supervision to counsellors and other clinical support staff.
- Support the development and implementation of training programs.
- Conduct auditing and coordinate professional development.
- Collaborate with clinical management to identify organizational needs, set training objectives, and develop strategies for achieving those objectives.
- Maintain accurate training records in a secure and organized manner.
- Contribute to program development and promote Safe Steps' values of integrity, diversity, and empowerment.
Requirements:
- Minimum four years' experience in trauma counselling (preferably telephone counselling) or equivalent experience in specialized sexual assault, domestic, and family violence counselling.
- Robust understanding of federal and state-based legislation relevant to service delivery.
- Capacity to work and support staff while remaining calm and embedding self-care practices.
- Registered clinical supervisor with a peak body.
- Completed minimum bachelor's degree from an approved provider. A master's degree is desirable.
- Qualifications as a registered counsellor, social worker, or psychologist with relevant registration bodies.
