Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to lead our mental health team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the clinical care of patients with eating disorders and other acute mental health problems.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in child and adolescent psychiatry, accreditation as an RANZCP Supervisor, and experience in inpatient MH including the assessment and management of young people with eating disorders.

About the Role

This is a part-time ongoing term role based within a leading mental health institution. As a Senior Clinical Lead, you will work closely with medical, nursing, and allied health staff to provide oversight of patient care, conduct clinical assessments, and develop recovery plans.

You will also collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, maintain systems that coordinate clinical care, and contribute to a culture of evidence-based practice, continual learning, and improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide consultant input to the Banksia Ward as required, ensuring timely assessments, treatments, and discharges of consumers.
  • Maintain effective systems for coordinating clinical care with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Collaborate with NUM and Hospital Services Coordinator to ensure operational and clinical targets are met.
  • Align clinical practice systems with service directions through the Director Mental Health.
Requirements
  • Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists or equivalent qualification.
  • Specialist Medical Practitioner registration with AHPRA.
  • Experience in working in the mental health sector and sound knowledge of relevant legislation.
  • Accreditation as an RANZCP Supervisor.
