Slurry Pump Technician Job Description

The role of a Slurry Pump Technician is to ensure the efficient installation, commissioning, adjustments, and inspections of Slurry Pumps, Valves, and Hydrocyclones in various locations. The successful candidate will have strong mechanical trade qualifications and at least 2 years of experience in slurry pump maintenance and rebuilds.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Installation, commissioning, adjustments, and inspections of Slurry Pumps, Valves, and Hydrocyclones;
  • On-site mechanical repairs and inspections to maintain operations and workshop repairs efficiency;
  • Support of Metso Pump Trials in the field;
  • Carry out hands-on service work such as adjustments, installation, commissioning, and operation of pumps on and off customer sites;
  • Internal and external report writing at completion of every field service job;
  • Conduct and/or assist with investigations of customer failures regarding quality, tolerances, specifications, and delivered conditions of products;
  • Contributions to clients with technical evaluations and analyze equipment and machine component failures;
  • Ability to solve practical on-the-job problems providing solutions to customers and mechanical crews;
  • Promote company repair and service capabilities and obtain ongoing works;
  • Promote the sales and usage of MO wear and spare parts;
  • Identify sales opportunities for pumps and hydrocyclones;

Requirements:

  • Experience with maintenance and/or rebuild/assembly of slurry pumps;
  • Mechanical trade qualification with at least 2 years' experience - recognized in Australia;
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, drawings, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals;
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence;
  • Good written and verbal communication skills;
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization;
  • Hold a current motor vehicle license and be able to pass random medical and drug tests;
  • Physically fit;
  • Ability to travel with short notice;
  • Ability to work away from home, for extended periods and extended hours, on weekends or as required;

Desirable:

  • Current Forklift Ticket;
  • Rigging and dogging qualifications;
