Head Chef Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head Chef to lead our food services team at Bracken House Aged Care Facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, preparing, cooking, and presenting high-quality meals that cater to the diverse needs and preferences of our residents.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a talented chef to make a real difference in the lives of our residents and their families. As Head Chef, you will be accountable for ensuring that all food services operations comply with relevant policies, procedures, and legislative requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and prepare menus that meet the dietary needs and preferences of our residents.
  • Lead and manage the food services team to ensure efficient and effective delivery of food services.
  • Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene practices.
  • Develop and implement budget management and cost control strategies.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Certificate IV in Kitchen Management (SIT40521) or Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery (SIT40516), or equivalent qualification.
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience as a chef or cook manager, preferably in an aged care or similar environment.
  • Excellent understanding of HACCP and Food Safety legislative requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Desirable Qualifications

The following qualifications would be highly desirable:

  • Formal qualifications in Nutrition or Dietetics.
  • Experience with therapeutic or medical diets, including dementia-specific nutrition approaches.
  • Training in allergen management and cross-contamination prevention.
