A newly established program has been designed for professional development, offering a supportive work environment with a dedicated Nurse Educator. This role involves delivering in-home care to our growing community.

Mercy Palliative Care provides 24-hour community-based palliative care services, covering the North and West Metropolitan region of Melbourne. Our multi-disciplinary team is committed to providing holistic care, addressing physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs.

We are seeking a compassionate and highly motivated Registered Nurse to participate in this purpose-designed program. You will receive support from a dedicated Nurse Educator to achieve clinical goals and objectives.

This limited tenure permanent part-time position (0.8EFT) offers educational opportunities, including comprehensive orientation, in-service education, paid professional development days, face-to-face workshops, reflective practice, and online learning.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing patient-centred and holistic care, including assessment and ongoing review of patients' needs, focusing on anticipating future needs
  • Planning and coordinating referrals to appropriate services relating to end-of-life care
  • Engaging with key stakeholders both internally and externally, adhering to policy and procedures related to patient care

You will work within a multidisciplinary team and autonomously, with remote support available. A rotating roster across a 7-day period, including AM/PM/Night Duty, is required. On-site training and a pathway to post-graduate palliative care programs are also available.
