Cost Management Specialist

About the Role:

Effective cost management is essential for businesses to remain competitive in today's market. We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Cost Controller to join our team on a contract basis. As a key member of the team, you will play a crucial role in monitoring costs, managing inventory, and providing accurate financial insights to support decision-making.

  • Monitor manufacturing production, warehouse, and distribution costs to identify areas for cost reduction.
  • Ensure that relevant contracts and jobs are set up fully in our internal financial systems, enabling timely invoicing, cost monitoring, and report generation.
  • Conduct variance analysis between actual costs and budgets/forecasts to ensure that financial targets are met.
  • Coordinate end-of-month requirements for projects to ensure timely completion and accurate reporting.
  • Review and verify purchase orders to prevent errors and discrepancies.
  • Support and analyze pricing decisions to optimize profit margins.
  • Monitor open purchase orders and track order status to ensure timely delivery.
  • Provide ad-hoc cost review support to the Financial Controller as needed.
  • Monitor inventory movements, stock levels, and stock valuation processes to prevent stockouts and overstocking.
  • Reconcile inventory discrepancies and investigate variances to ensure accurate financial reporting.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

To succeed in this role, you will require:

  • Previous experience in cost control, management accounting, or a similar role with a proven track record of success.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Experience with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills to perform complex data analysis.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
