About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) specialist to join our team as an IPC Clinical Lead. This is a part-time role, working across multiple sites in the Shoalhaven region.

The successful candidate will provide clinical expertise and mentoring to our care teams, leading the implementation of IPC protocols and ensuring a culture of excellence in infection prevention practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the implementation of IPC protocols across all aged care centres in the region
  • Provide clinical expertise and mentoring to care teams
  • Conduct regular reviews of current practice and formulate improvement recommendations
  • Access and promote IPC policies, procedures, and Outbreak Management Plans
  • Provide expert knowledge and guidance on IPC and disease management
  • Coordinate the management of infections and infection-related incidents
  • Carry out relevant Work Health and Safety functions
  • Collaborate with the Clinical Nurse Educator to ensure high standards of education and competency
  • Develop and maintain key partnerships with external stakeholders
  • Work collaboratively with the Clinical, Quality, and Learning and Development Teams
  • Coordinate outbreaks and provide IPC reports to committees
Requirements
  • Registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse
  • Completed ICC training and COVID-19 infection control online training modules
  • Immunisation certificate and all aged care modules
  • Completed or enrolled in a suitable IPC training course
  • Sound understanding of IPC principles and outbreak management
  • Ability to interpret Infection Control and Waste Management Standards
  • High-level written and verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
