Job Overview: As a Weed Controller at Kolsen, you will be responsible for providing ground maintenance services, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of gardening equipment and machinery to maintain our client's landscaped grounds according to site schedules and specifications.

Responsibilities:

Safety, Health, and Environment:

  • Identify hazards, develop safety procedures, and encourage continuous improvement in relation to HSE.
  • Assist in identifying hazards, advising on safety procedures, and monitoring work practices to ensure adherence to correct procedures and standards for safety and environmental performance.
  • Support the Kolsen Group corporate quality, safety, health, and environmental management systems by reporting any situations that could result in harm to a person, the environment, or may adversely affect the services provided to customers.

Customer Relationships:

  • Communicate with internal and external customers on a day-to-day basis to plan work, keep them informed of progress, resolve any issues of concern, and identify variations or additional work.

Operational Performance:

  • Chemical spraying, pulling weeds, and clearing areas of debris.
  • Use of spraying equipment like backpack sprayers, knapsack sprayers, and motorized spraying equipment to control weeds, pests, and insects.
  • Temporary warning signs placed when required.
  • Tasks to be carried out in a manner that causes the least inconvenience to customers, staff, and the general public.
  • Operate equipment and machinery in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations and the SNT operating procedures.
  • Report maintenance and repair issues to the area supervisor.
  • Understand and comply with quality, safety, health, and environmental policies.
  • Follow written instructions, verbal direction, and procedures to perform work.
  • Challenge any instructions that you believe places anyone or the environment at risk.
  • Take personal responsibility to protect the health and safety of people or the environment.

People and Teams:

  • Maintain a high level of communication and cooperative working relationships with all parties.

Selection Criteria:

  • Class C Driver's Licence (manual).
  • Work under limited supervision either individually or in a team environment.
  • A satisfactory National Police Security Check Report.
  • Be physically able to perform the duties of the position.
  • Be able to perform manual work for long periods outdoors.
