Job Overview:
As a Landscaping Maintenance Specialist, you will be responsible for providing ground maintenance services, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of gardening equipment and machinery to maintain client landscaped grounds according to site schedules and specifications.
Responsibilities:
- Safety, Health, and Environment:
- Proactively identify hazards, develop safety procedures, and promote continuous improvement in relation to health, safety, and environment (HSE).
- Assist in identifying hazards, advise on safety procedures, and monitor work practices to ensure adherence to correct procedures and standards for HSE performance.
- Support the Kolsen Group corporate quality, safety, health, and environmental management systems by:
- Reporting any situation that could result in harm to people, the environment, or may adversely affect customer services.
- Report opportunities that would improve service quality or reduce potential harm to people or the environment.
- Understand and support annual QHSE objectives.
- Immediately pause or make safe any work condition or activity that could result in immediate harm and notify the responsible line manager and QHSE adviser or Director.
- Lead and promote the implementation of integrated management systems for Quality, Safety, Health, and Environment.
Customer Relationships:
Communicate with internal and external customers daily, planning work, keeping them informed of progress, resolving issues, and identifying variations or additional work.
Operational Performance:
- Chemical spraying, pulling weeds, and clearing debris
- Using spraying equipment like backpack sprayers, knapsack sprayers, and motorized spraying equipment to control weeds, pests, and insects
- Placing temporary warning signs when required
- Performing tasks to minimize inconvenience to customers, staff, and the general public
- Operating equipment and machinery according to manufacturer recommendations and SNT operating procedures
- Reporting maintenance and repair issues to the area supervisor
- Complying with quality, safety, health, and environmental policies
- FOLLOWING written instructions, verbal direction, and procedures to perform work
- Challenging any instructions that could place anyone or the environment at risk
- Taking personal responsibility to protect the health and safety of people or the environment
People and Teams:
Maintain high-level communication and cooperative working relationships with all parties.
Other:
Undertake other tasks to support projects or business operations as required. Adhere to the D-COM principles.
Selection Criteria:
Essentials:
- Class C Driver's Licence (manual)
- Working under limited supervision either individually or in a team environment
- A satisfactory National Police Security Check Report
- Being physically able to perform the duties of the position
- Ability to perform manual work for long periods outdoors
Desirable:
- Chem Certificate or ability to obtain
- Knowledge of pest and weed control
- Certificate I or equivalent qualification in horticulture
- OCHRE Card (or be willing to obtain)
- Construction Industry White Card (or be willing to obtain)
