The University of Notre Dame Australia is seeking expressions of interest from academics who have a passion for teaching and a commitment to excellence in education. As a sessional academic tutor, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the University's Tertiary Pathway Program (TPP), which provides students with a supportive and engaging learning environment.
We are looking for individuals with subject matter expertise in at least one or more of the following areas:
- Essential Maths
- Human Biology
- Research Skills
- Academic Writing
- Communication Skills
- Conduct teaching to the highest standards, including preparation for tutorials and facilitating discussions to enhance student engagement.
- Consult with students in relation to pre-tutorial tasks, weekly topics, and upcoming assessments.
- Participate in assessment activities, including marking, moderation, and providing feedback to students within prescribed timeframes.
- Comply with policies and procedures in all aspects of work and conduct, particularly the Staff Code of Conduct.
- Undertake professional development as arranged by the National Director of the Program.
- Provide a high level of pastoral care to students.
Essential
- Supportive of the Objects of Notre Dame as a Catholic University.
Qualifications
- A Master's degree and experience in teaching in university pathway programs.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Ability to teach small tutorial groups and engage students in their learning.
- Ability to deliver quality learning and teaching practices in multiple modes, including online delivery.
- A keen interest in maintaining currency in scholarship and professional practice.
- Ability to incorporate technology into teaching and learning.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work effectively in a team.
- Ability to assess priority of tasks, manage workload, and meet deadlines in a busy education environment.
- Evidence of a high level of pastoral care to students.
