Job DescriptionWe are seeking expressions of interest from academics who have a passion for teaching and are interested in working with students in the Tertiary Pathway Program (TPP). The successful candidate will have subject matter expertise in at least one or more of the following areas: Essential Maths, Human Biology, Research Skills, Academic Writing, and Communication Skills.
The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting teaching to the standard of the Pathways programs, including preparation for tutorials and facilitating discussions to enhance student engagement. They will also be responsible for consultation with students in relation to pre-tutorial tasks, weekly topics, and upcoming assessments, as well as participating in assessment activities, including marking, moderation, and providing feedback to students within the prescribed timeframes.
The successful candidate will also be required to comply with policies and procedures in all aspects of their work and conduct, in particular the Staff Code of Conduct. They will also be required to undertake Professional Development as arranged by the National Director of the Program and provide a high level of pastoral care to students.
Selection CriteriaThe successful candidate will have the following qualifications and skills:
- Supportive of the Objects of Notre Dame as a Catholic University
- A Master's degree and experience in Teaching in university pathway programs
- Ability to teach small tutorial groups and engage students in their learning
- Ability to deliver quality learning and teaching practices in multiple modes, including online delivery
- A keen interest in maintaining currency in scholarship and professional practice
- Ability to incorporate technology into teaching and learning
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including ability to work effectively in a team
- Ability to assess priority of tasks, manage workload, and meet deadlines in a busy education environment
- Evidence of a high level of pastoral care to students
