About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Engineer to join our team at Michael Page. As a Senior Engineer, you will play a crucial role in managing and optimizing critical energy infrastructure, directly contributing to the development and implementation of innovative asset management strategies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Expertise: Provide technical expertise associated with cables and overhead lines up to 66 kV.
  • Asset Management: Provide expert input to asset management strategies and philosophies.
  • Line Performance: Provide expert input to line performance and technical specifications.
  • Equipment Standards: Provide expert input to the development of equipment standards.
  • Maintenance Policy: Contribute towards maintenance policy/practices.
  • Project Initiation: Initiate projects (develop concepts, prepare business cases and project handover documentation).
  • Asset Replacement: Support the implementation of asset management and asset replacement initiatives.
  • Network Operations: Support Network Operations to achieve annual capital and operational works plans.
  • Asset Condition: Assess and review the condition of installed cables and distribution line assets.
  • Database Review: Review/audit of asset-related databases.
  • Investigation and Analysis: Investigating and analysing cable and distribution line equipment failures or problems, drafting reports, etc.
  • Technical Decisions: Making technical decisions in relation to cables and distribution lines.
  • Documentation Approval: Approving relevant technical documentation.
  • Regulatory and Internal Audits: Participating in regulator and internal audits as required.
  • Emergency Response: Providing support for emergency response events, as required.
Measures of Success
  • Delivery of Capex and Opex Works Programs: Wholly accountable metrics: 100% delivery of capex and opex works programs approvals for cables and distribution lines from year to year.
  • Cable and Distribution Lines Documentation: All cable and distribution lines documentation kept current from year to year.
  • Incident and Failure Investigations: Incident and failure investigations are completed within required timeframes to the required quality.
  • Audit and Investigations Actions: Audit and investigations actions are completed within the required timeframes.
  • Technical and Operational Support: Technical and operational support provided in required timeframes.

Requirements
  • Relevant Training or Qualification: Relevant training or qualification in Engineering.
  • Commitment to Safety Outcomes: Demonstrated commitment to safety outcomes.
  • Asset Management Leading Practices: Understanding of Asset Management leading practices, frameworks, and relevant standards.
  • Regulatory Frameworks and Legislation: Understanding of relevant Regulatory frameworks and legislation.
  • Australian and International Standards: Understanding of relevant Australian and International standards and industry codes of practice.
  • Failure and Incident Investigations: Ability to lead and coordinate failure and incident investigations.
  • Organisational Strategy: Ability to connect with organisational strategy and identify what is required at a tactical level to achieve it.
  • Strategic Asset Management Plans: Demonstrated expertise in developing and implementing strategic asset management plans, preferably in a regulated environment.
  • Distribution System Components: In-depth knowledge of distribution system components, equipment, and technologies, with a focus on cables and distribution lines and emerging trends and innovations.
  • Software Packages: Knowledge of relevant software packages used for analysis and design of distribution lines and structures e.g., PLS-CAD suite.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills and the ability to leverage data-driven insights to inform decision-making and optimise asset performance.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and collaborate with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
