As a Lead Mechanical Piping Designer, you will be responsible for leading and supporting the mechanical/piping design team with the delivery of innovative practical solutions across client projects of varying complexities.

Responsibilities:
  • Working closely with our Design Team Leader, you will be involved in mechanical/piping project inputs and provide technical guidance and leadership to support the growth and development of the technical/piping design team.
  • Manage the effective collaboration, delegation, and preparation of workload across the mechanical/piping design teams in multiple locations.
  • Leading and undertaking piping, mechanical, and materials handling design tasks from concept through to commissioning, ensuring compliance with industry standards and project requirements.
  • Effectively communicate and coordinate with stakeholders, including designers, project managers, engineers, and clients, ensuring timely delivery of design milestones and addressing potential issues or delays.
  • Designing materials handling systems, wet and dry process plants, conveyors, belt feeders, screens, stackers, and reclaimers.
  • Developing design concepts and creating 3D models, visualisations, and animations using CAD software.
  • Reviewing and providing feedback on vendor drawings and interdisciplinary design data.
  • Assisting with construction, commissioning, and inspections, including occasional site-based work as required.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • An Advanced Diploma of Engineering or equivalent qualification.
  • Extensive design experience in the mining/minerals processing/industrial sectors.
  • Experience working in a multidisciplinary consulting environment on Brownfield and Greenfield projects.
  • Competency in recognised CAD systems, such as AutoCAD, Advance Steel, Plant 3D, Navisworks, Civil 3D, and Bentley.
  • Leadership skills and ability to build a team, delegate workload, and support less experienced team members.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and focus on producing quality outputs.
  • Understanding of statutory and industry regulations, as well as HSE practices.
  • Experience collaborating with clients and multi-discipline teams across multiple locations.
