Senior Mechanical Piping Designer

Location: Brisbane, QLD

Indicative assignment length: 3-month Contract (possibility of extension)

The role

A well-regarded multidiscipline engineering and project delivery firm is looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical/Piping Designer to join their Brisbane team. The company has a strong footprint in the mining, minerals, and metals sector, delivering practical, high-value solutions for complex processing projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create detailed models and technical drawings in line with industry standards and internal procedures
  • Lead and facilitate design reviews across multi-discipline teams
  • Develop practical layout solutions with a strong focus on efficiency and constructability
  • Monitor design progress and ensure alignment with project timelines and budgets
  • Collaborate daily with engineers, project managers, clients, and designers
  • Provide guidance and leadership to junior team members
  • Maintain a high standard of safety in both design and day-to-day practice

What you'll need to succeed

  • Experience in piping/mechanical design for mining, mineral, or metals projects
  • Certificate III or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Drafting (advantageous)
  • Proficiency in MicroStation design software (highly regarded)
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

  • Competitive hourly rate (negotiable based on experience)
  • This is a 3-month contract role, with a view to extension.
