Lead Mechanical Piping Design Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Lead Mechanical / Piping Designer to join our team. This newly created position will see you responsible for leading and supporting the mechanical / piping design team with the delivery of innovative practical solutions, across client projects of varying complexities.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Working closely with our multi-discipline Design Team Leader, you will be involved in the mechanical / piping project inputs and provide technical guidance and leadership supporting the growth and development of the technical / piping design team.
  • Manage the effective collaboration, delegation and preparation of workload across the mechanical / piping design teams in multiple locations.
  • Leading and undertaking piping, mechanical and materials handling design tasks from concept through to commissioning, ensuring compliance with industry standards and project requirements.
  • Effectively communicate and coordinate with stakeholders (designers, project managers, engineers & clients), ensuring the timely delivery of design milestones, proactively addressing any potential issues or delays.
  • Develop design concepts and create 3D models, visualisations and animations, utilising recognised CAD systems such as AutoCAD.
  • Review and provide feedback on vendor drawings and interdisciplinary design data.
What We Are Looking For:
  • Advanced Diploma of Engineering or equivalent.
  • Extensive design experience in the mining / minerals processing / industrial sectors.
  • Experience working in a multidisciplinary consulting environment working on Brownfield and Greenfield projects.
  • Competency in recognised CAD systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an eye for detail and a strong focus on the production of quality outputs.
  • Understanding of statutory and industry regulations and HSE practices.
