Role Title: Post-16 SEN Support Specialist

We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic individual to support students aged 16 to 19 in developing essential life, vocational, and academic skills.

Job Summary:
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to post-16 learners with special educational needs.
  • Assist with the delivery of tailored academic and life skills sessions.
  • Encourage independence, communication, and self-confidence in every interaction.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Support students in community-based learning and transition planning.
  2. Help manage behaviour and emotional regulation in a calm and positive manner.
  3. Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to meet individual learning goals.
  4. Monitor and document student progress and wellbeing.
Requirements:
  • Experience working with students or young adults with SEN (school, college, care or youth setting).
  • A patient, adaptable, and supportive approach.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Understanding of autism, SEMH, or learning difficulties.
  • Awareness of safeguarding and professional boundaries.
  • Relevant qualifications in education or support work are desirable.
  • Up-to-date CV and enhanced DBS registered to the update service or willingness to apply for one.
