Learning Support Specialist

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Teaching Assistant to work closely with students who require tailored support in a welcoming school environment.
The ideal candidate will possess experience working with young people with SEMH needs or within an SEN setting, and will have excellent behaviour management and de-escalation skills.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing 1:1 or small group support to students with SEMH needs.
- Assisting in managing challenging behaviour with a calm and proactive approach.
- Helping pupils access learning by adapting resources and strategies.
- Encouraging positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and engagement.
- Working collaboratively with teaching staff, SENCOs, and pastoral teams.
- Building strong relationships with students based on trust and consistency.
- Maintaining accurate records and contributing to support plans and reviews.
To be successful in this role, the applicant should possess:
- Experience working with young people with SEMH needs or within an SEN setting.
- A calm, patient, and supportive attitude with strong emotional intelligence.
- Excellent behaviour management and de-escalation skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection practices.
- Updated CV and enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
