Key Role in Patient Nutrition Support

The Mater Dietetics and Food Services team are seeking a qualified Dietetic Assistant to provide clinical nutrition and dietetic support services on a casual basis.

About the Opportunity

The Dietetics and Food Services department delivers high-quality, evidence-based nutrition and dietetic services across all hospitals in the Mater Group. We strive for excellence in various areas of clinical nutrition, including food services, metabolic nutrition, paediatric nutrition, and dietetics.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver comprehensive patient care through clinical nutrition and dietetic support under senior staff guidance within Nutrition and Dietetics
  • Interpret data from relevant databases to produce appropriate feed production strategies
  • Oversee daily formula milk production, storage, and delivery in accordance with hospital procedures
  • Manage expressed breast milk, pasteurised donor human milk, and milk donation in line with hospital protocols
  • Perform malnutrition screening and related assessment processes
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and service development within the department
Requirements
  • Proven ability to work effectively as an individual and as part of a collaborative team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Flexibility and ability to manage competing demands
  • High level of literacy, numeracy, and computer proficiency
  • Previous experience or competency in a hospital formula preparation room is highly valued
  • Previous experience as a food service worker or dietitian assistant is highly valued
  • Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance (Nutrition & Dietetic Assistance) or progress towards this qualification will be well regarded, though not essential
