This is a rare chance for a scholarly communication professional to advance an ambitious agenda at a leading research institution.

The role entails overseeing research support services and leading complex projects that promote open research across the university.

We are seeking a dynamic, engaged, highly organised, and inspiring information professional with an interest in scholarly communication.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead a team of high-performing staff with diverse subject matter expertise to cultivate a cohesive and capable unit.
  • Develop and implement local plans that align with the institution's research strategy, monitoring progress, assessing risks, and adapting priorities to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Oversee the design, management, and evaluation of research support services related to bibliometrics, stewardship of research outputs and data.
  • Analyse complex issues, identify inclusive solutions, and translate them into clear goals, implementing and evaluating continuous improvement strategies to enhance service delivery.
  • Foster stakeholder support, generate enthusiasm for change, and create a safe environment for open dialogue, promoting inclusive and respectful resolution of issues to advance the institution's research agenda.
Requirements:
  • Postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience; or
  • Project management experience with a good grasp of the volatile scholar communication landscape.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting research in a research institution or similar environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of current research issues in higher education, trends in scholarly communication, and Open Research.
  • Extensive knowledge of bibliometrics reporting practices, impact and engagement measures, repository and research data management in a research institution environment.
