
Laboratory Specialist

The role of a Medical Laboratory Technician involves performing various laboratory investigations by applying established methods and procedures, as directed. This includes front-end activities in specimen reception, data entry during afternoon shifts, and laboratory testing in biochemistry, haematology, and immunohaematology departments.
This position requires the candidate to have a minimum qualification of Diploma in Laboratory Technology or an equivalent qualification from a recognised tertiary institution with subjects relevant to pathology or medical laboratory operations.
Key responsibilities include working in a responsible and efficient manner, managing competing priorities to meet deadlines, and demonstrating ability to work in a team environment while working autonomously to deliver results within specified timeframes set to meet client expectations.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent customer-focused approach skills, displaying well-developed interpersonal skills and good oral and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with customers and patients as well as clinical laboratory staff.
Initiative, problem-solving, and analytical skills are essential, including an ability to apply established principles in a pathology laboratory and investigate and resolve general and complex issues within the laboratory environment.
The successful candidate will also be committed to the principles of quality management and continuous quality improvement and identify, develop, and implement quality and service improvement activities.
Required Skills and Qualifications:- Minimum qualification of Diploma in Laboratory Technology or an equivalent qualification from a recognised tertiary institution with subjects relevant to pathology or medical laboratory operations.
